Hundreds of practitioners have been my great teachers. I have 42 years of experience guiding gentle yoga to give your body the energy and support you need to fulfill the many tasks and journeys of a lifetime. My specialized teachings have included adapting yoga for elders and seniors in private residential communities.

Yoga is a true friend - my story
I was idealistic in my 20s! While pushing a loaded wheelbarrow up a hill I hurt my back. Bed rest was then considered a wise conservative choice for healing. Intense symptoms of sciatica and muscle spasms forced me to crawl to the bathroom at times.
Fast forward 10 years. I was a candidate for back surgery. That didn't happen. I developed a drop foot. When I walked I dragged the foot on my affected leg. The intense symptoms, above, continued to immobilize me for periods of time. Nothing really helped.
Fast forward another 10 years. My low back was finally improving. I learned tools from the Viniyoga tradition that helped my back become stable - several years of regular practice. I learned to avoid what caused irritation and to have faith in a brand new approach.
That was 14 years ago! I'm practicing yoga and enjoying activities that at one time in my life, I didn't think I'd ever be able to again.
Other ways that yoga has helped me was recognizing how much anxiety I lived with. Learning how much I need/ed to take time out for myself regularly to counter stresses like moving to a new area; caregiving for a parent during their final illness; transitioning through menopause. Being able to manage stress is so key in sustaining a committed relationship too.
