“Charlotte, you are an expert by experience. You have walked your talk. Your consistent authenticity created an anchor.”
I’m a certified grief educator through David Kessler. I’ve led grief groups for over 2 years and facilitated groups on strengthening resilience and embracing death and dying, for 11 years. I can collaborate with you to create rituals to honor your loved one, and offer one-on-one non-licensed, support. Even though none of us “know” how to do this, we do this together beautifully. We were made to share both in living fully, and dying with grace.
I was a full time caregiver for my husband who had frontotemporal dementia, and accompanied him through Hospice, VSED, and gave him a home funeral.
In my former 25-year career as a yoga teacher and internationally certified yoga therapist, I guided seniors and elders in adaptive movement and yoga, to support strength, balance and maintain healthy functioning. Mindfulness practices focused on accepting what was difficult while growing positive mind states inspired my clients to learn they could make new choices in challenging moments.
I have studied these approaches in-depth and helped my clients apply them in daily life:
- Polyvagal Theory with Deb Dana
- Resilience with Linda Graham
- Positive Neuroplasticity with Rick Hanson
- Awakening Joy/Buddhist psychology with James Baraz
- Internal Family Systems with Bonnie Weiss
I am a certified Awakening Joy facilitator through James Baraz. From 1976, I was senior residential staff at the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health for 20 years, and on faculty for yoga programs for 2 years.
My undergraduate degree is in Human Services specializing in gerontology through Thomas Edison University, Trenton, NJ.
My interests are writing poetry to soften old familiar perspectives that don’t serve me anymore. I love birding, eating healthy food, hiking, singing, and being with like-minded people who care deeply about this earth and other living beings. I also like to laugh and appreciate being reminded to do that sometimes.
