One thing that’s meaningful right now is what I heard myself say as I talked with a dear friend yesterday. I told her how I shared the story with a small group of old friends a few days ago, of accompanying my husband as caregiver while dementia decreased his capacity to function with well-being. These were friends we cared about but hadn’t been in touch with for years, decades.
In the telling I shared the genuine power of my story without getting snared by the story. My words.
Why this is a great gift is that I used to be snared by the very difficult parts of my story. Understandably, I’d get pulled in and lost in a tumultuous sea of doubt, shame, guilt, sadness, anger.
I’ve drawn on extensive support to strengthen my inner resources. Now, trusting in growth that has proven the mettle, I’m grateful to offer a hand to you and others on this journey of accepting aging, illness, death, and caregiving.
Upcoming offerings for the fall:
The Grief of Losing Someone You Love – Thursday, October 1st, 2 – 3:30 pm EST on Zoom
You’re invited to join me in honoring the loss of your beloved. Through quiet centering, checking in, reading poetry, writing and sharing our journeys, we become a listening for each other, and for what aches in our heart to be healed. With gentle attention and time, we soothe the grief and allow ourselves to learn to see the love that flows in it.
RSVP by Sept. 27th for a link by donation – charlotte@charlottenuessle.com
